The Homers valiantly lost yesterday to Prime Time, a team that not only wears uniforms but brings its own bench with the words PRIME TIME painted on. Starting for the loooooosing team were Raul at pitcher, Mark at catcher, Brian at first, Jeff at second, Kevin at short, Beth at third, Richard in left, Juan in center, Mary in right, and Donna (of Maulers fame) at rover. Joe showed up for the first time this season and played a few innings at left as Richard moved to center, Juan to short, Kevin to catcher, and Mark to babysitter. "Kevin's daughter Laura has got to be the cutest, sweetest little girl in the world," said Uncle Mark.
Defensively, we didn't look too bad as we gave up only ten runs. Raul made about 7 plays on balls grounded back to him. Jeff, Beth, and Mark each stood tough on force plays at their respective bases as big ugly USDA Prime Time players bore down on them. Unfortunately, we scored only five runs, although Brian did crush a HOME Run to deep right center in the last inning. More typical was the last out of the game where Joe hit the ball really well but started running about 15 degrees to the right of the first-base line.
The next game is Wednesday at 5:30 again. We will be playing on field H6, which is the field of our glorious victory two weeks ago. It's at the northeast corner of the Rose Bowl.
