The Homers' record fell to 1 win and 2 losses yesterday after losing 10 to 5 to Weird Science. Both losses have come with the Homers as the visitors, reinforcing the belief that the team's fans are the best in the west. Starting for the good guys were Raul at pitcher, Junior at catcher, Scott at first, Jerri at second, Richard at shortstop, Beth at third, Brian in left, Jeff in center, Lela in right, and Debbie roving. Joe showed up later to relieve Junior at catcher, and Fannie arrive near the beginning of the sixth and pinched-hit in the seventh. Unnamed sources say that Fannie went to play only to get her name in the Homers Report; if so, here it is.
Again, we didn't do badly defensively, as we gave up only ten runs, most of which seemed to come from their left-handed-hitting shortstop, who hit two or three home runs. Jeff made four outstanding catches in center field. Actually, I think that was it for highlights. Just about everybody got on base, and absolutely everyone swung the bat well.
The next game is Wednesday at 5:30. Looks like we're the visiting team again. We will be playing on field H4, which is near the restroom at the northwest corner of the Rose Bowl. The left side (shortstop, third base, and left field) will have a hard time fighting off the sun for the first three or four innings.
