4-Play 0 3 2 0 2 2 0 9 Homers 5 3 0 7 2 2 x 19That's right, the Homers not only scored 7 runs in one inning and did not give up a big inning, but we also reached the mercy rule in three innings. Don and Jesus hit back to back home runs to start the 4th, with Don's going over the fence in right center, allowing him to watch Darryl-Strawberry-style and earning him a trip through a full-team gauntlet of high-fives between third and home. Jesus had to run his out.
Other big hitters included Ron, who claims to have made only one out the entire year so far, and Jeff, who actually hit the ball to the right of second base for a clean single. In fact, perhaps everyone contributed offensively in some way. Defensively, Richard came up with the play of the day by chasing down a foul pop-up on the third base side that was actually out of play. However, the co-op team got us last year by interpreting the rules toward their advantage, so we felt no remorse about not informing them. The other candidate for POTD was turned in by Chris at third base, who snagged a hard grund ball and threw the batter out.
Our next game is Tuesday, May 25, Heavy Hitters @ Homers, John Muir High School again. I don't know whether or not we were playing on the correct field, but let's assume the next game is at the same location. There is some payback involved in this game because they chiseled us out of a few outs last year.
