May 12, 1994: Maulers @ Homers

The Homers found cause to rediscover their humility after losing to the Maulers 8 to 6 in extra innings. Starting for the Homers were Scott (1B), Don (RF), Jeff, Amy (LCF), Richard (SS), Tim, Ron (RCF), Beth (3B), Jesus (LF), Mark (P), Doug (2B), Bill Verish (C), Ed, Angela, Laurie, and Chris. The turning point of the game came in the fifth when Angela fell ill and left. Monica, Holly, and Greg Baroth heckled the Maulers in vain. After the game, Don, Jeff, Amy, Richard, Tim, Ron, Doug, Laurie, Monica, and Holly headed over to a Chinese restaurant called Wei Fun, where all but the first made it.
    Maulers 0 0 1 0 2 1 1 3 8
    Homers 0 0 0 3 2 0 0 1 6
Game ball goes to Doug for coming up with the best hit of his Homer career, a hard, hard line-drive to right center that went for a home run. His shot followed yet another monster home run from Jesus in the fifth. Don ripped a ball that he possibly could have turned into a game winning home run in the 7th, but he got distracted by some babe walking by third. Other hightlights, hmmm.... The Homers did play good D until overtime, and Jeff did an excellent job of juggling 15 then 14 then 16 players.

Our next game is Thursday, May 19, against the Pole Zero Bears at Pasadena High School again. We had a very nice, friendly, pleasant (victorious) game against them last year.
