Thu, Jul 21, JM1, Deep Space Cadets This is the other C league team I play on; they suck; 20 push-ups per person if we don't win - no sissy ones, either. In fact, the Deep Space Cadets mercy-ruled the Homers in the seventh inning although the Homers had come back to nearly tie the game in the fifth.
Deep Space Cadets 6 2 2 2 0 6 2 20 Homers 3 0 4 0 3 0 3 13Starting for the Homers were Jeff(1B), Scott (C, welcome back), Angela (RCF/2B), Tim (SS), Jesus (LF), Amy (RF), Richard (P/CF), Ron (LCF/P), Beth (3B), and Laurie (2B/RF). Scott and Jesus tanked it up at Crown City Brewery after the game while Jeff, Richard, and Laurie egged them on. At dinner, the five decided to hold an optional practice this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Pasadena High School. Seriously. Jesus will bring the beer while Richard/Jeff/Laurie will provide soda as usual.
As for the game, Jesus hit two home runs, one to right center and one over the fence in left, and Richard hit two, both to left. Nevertheless, play of the day goes to Ron for parking his car just outside the short left field fence, where Richard's second home run, hit fairly high, landed just beyond the car Defensively, it was a pretty difficult game as the Homers didn't adjust well to the pitching mound or the faster dirt infield. Beth did make a good play on the back end of a double play on a pop-up when the runner strayed too far, and Laurie made a good assist on a clean stop of a ball hit hard to second base.
In bigger news, Monica and Doug proudly announce the birth of their second child, Alan Douglas Clarence Thomas Clark, who came through at 9+ pounds. The entire Homer team looks forward to seeing the entire Clark clan at the next game or even at Saturday's practice.
In older news, Angela is engaged to be married and is due ... to move to Pico Rivera later this summer. It's up to the rest of us to put enough peer pressure on her to keep her showing up afterwards.
Our next game is Wednesday, July 27, LA Radars @ Homers at Pasadena High School. No pre-game trash talk this time.
