The Homers evened their record at 1-1 when the Cosmic Debris forfeited due to a lack of players at game time. However, after sending two players over to their opponents, the Homers turned the victory into a moral defeat, 18 to 17, with the game suspended after six innings due to darkness. Man, we were mean, but we're changing our scene, though we're doing the best that we can.

    Homers 0 3 4 7 0 3 17
    Cosmic Debris 2 7 0 2 4 3 18
Playing for the Homers were Monica (2B), Jeff (1B), Robb (P), Tim (SS), Amy (OF), Ron (OF), Doug (1B), Don C (OF), Barbara Lam (2B/debutante), Dave (C/debutante/Barbara's husband), Beth (3B), Rich (OF/debutante), and Holly/Allen (spectators). Richard and Mary were the two traded for future considerations, such as getting every Homer off of Susan Merrill's mailing list. Well, the Homers may have lost the game, but the post-game meal was another pleasant affair shared by Robb, Mary, Richard, Ron, Tim, Don, and Jeff at Numero Uno, where with a main topic of conversation being a certain diminutive technologist, a splendid time was guaranteed for all.

Defensively, Tim and Monica fielded solidly, Beth made a nice juggling catch and took a bruise for the team as did Barbara, and (from the other perspective) Robb pitched some nice meatballs that no Debris did much with. Offensively, Tim and Don got extra-base hits, but for the first time in many, many games, no Homer hit a home run. They've been going in and out of style, but they're guaranteed to raise a smile.

Our game next week is Tuesday at Pasadena High School, field 2 (the usual one), against the IPL Crawdads. But before then we're going to have yet another Homer practice, except this one's going to be held in Palmdale in honor of the Clark clan. SUNDAY, 4:00 PM, at a field at the corner of 30TH WEST & AVENUE P. To get there, take the 14 (presumably east) to Avenue P, make a left, and 30th West is about two miles away. Please respond soon if you're going to attend because if there are enough people going, we'll reserve the field ($21); otherwise, we'll just take our chances. Afterwards, we'll have a barbecue at the Clark house (seriously) until we're sorry but it's time to go.
