The Homers finally broke out and won a game on the field, 18 to 10 against the IPL Crawdads. The Crawdads had but 1 woman to complement their 9 men (they must be the archetypal JPL old-school team), and she didn't play defense.
Homers 4 2 4 0 1 4 3 18 IPL Crawdads 0 2 4 1 3 0 0 10The Homers had their best turnout of the year despite a conflict with the B- chick team that plucked away Amy and Holly. Playing for the Homers were Doug (1B), Phil (OF), Jeff (1B), Monica (2B), Richard (SS/P), Jesus (OF), Ron (OF/P), Beth (3B), Tim (1B/SS), Dave (C/2B), Robb (P/SS), Mary (OF/2B), Don (OF), Rich (OF), Robert Fowler (OF), and Holly/Allen (spectators). A request for Chinese food led to dinner at Wei Fun, attended by Beth, Bill, Robert, Phil, Jeff, Don, Richard, and Ron.
The Homers had a lot of big guns in the lineup, but only Ron was able to hit a home run, a shot to left center that took a nice bounce. Other offensive heroes included Mary, who got a hard double down THE line, Jeff, with 3 hits that might have been forgotten if not for a PR campaign, and Monica, who hit hard shots into no-man's land between the infield and the outfield. Defensively, Jesus caught a deeply hit ball while running hard to his left, and Rich gunned down a runner going from first to third on a single to right with Robb applying the tag.
Our lack of home run production coupled with a desire for corporate sponsorship has led to proposals to change the team name. The difficulty lies in picking a sponsor whose image fits the team's character. The candidates are:

We'll be the visiting team for the fourth week in a row, something we have to complain about.
