Let's see - the weather was beautiful, another wonderful Southern California
day at the Rose Bowl.  The Homers set a team record for drinks consumed at a
game - 26 cans and bottles of various drinks.  Holly and Allen (and the ones
they teach) showed for the first time in 7 weeks and kept team morale high.
And in the game against TTFKAVDS, ...<p>

All good things must come to an end.  After 11 straight victories, the Homers
returned to earth in losing badly to Voodoo Toad Fury, 20 to 4.  In fact, 
Richard, Tim, and Amy each lost for the third time this week in various 
games; the combined score of the games that all three played in was 42 to 5, 
which must be some sort of record in futility outside of Peanuts.

After weeks of tepid turnouts, the Homers tied a season high in getting 16,
count 'em, 16 players out to the field.  The batting order for the poundees
was Jeff (1B), Ron (OF/1B/P), Don (OF), Amy (OF/1B), Scott (P/OF/SS),
Richard (SS/1B/OF), Karen (OF/P/2B), Doug (C/OF/1B), Tim (1B/SS/3B), Phil
(OF/C), Monica (2B/OF), Dave (3B/OF/C), Rich (3B), Barbara (2B/C), Mary (OF),
and Sue (c/2B).  Holly and Allen rounded out the Clark clan with Allen being
sprung from jail around the second inning.  Afterwards, the excellent turnout
carried over to Mijares with Sue, Jeff, Phil, Holly, Amy, Monica, Doug, 
Allen, Scott, Karen, Ron, and Richard.<p>

Homer highlights were pretty sparse.  Offensively, the team did not make it
throught the batting order twice.  Don got another solid home run, this
one over the left fielder's head.  Karen hit the ball well twice, with the
second driving in half of the Homers runs.  Barbara also hung tough and got
a good hit to left her first time up.  Defensively, hmmm... well... Rich
escaped errorless.<p>

Our next game is Wednesday, August 9, on field H3 of the Rose Bowl against
the Asterisks.  Let's not get cocky about attendance, for four of today's
players (Scott, Karen, Doug, and Monica) are already no-shows, plus Robb and
Holly won't be there either.
