The Homers returned to their winning ways in beating another patsy, the 
Asterisks, 17 to 5.  However, the C league commissioner will be the final 
arbiter of this game as one of the Asterisks filed a protest against the 
Homers.  Said player claims:

<LI>the Homer third baseman, Mr. Robert Warren, maliciously placed his 
ankle in front of an innocent runner sliding into third base in the 
first inning,

<LI>Mr. Warren repeated the act again in the fourth,

<LI>Mr. Jeff Osman taunted the left fielder into catching his fly ball
behind the back,

<LI>Mr. Tim Ohm unfairly hit his second home run over the same left 
fielder's head while the defenseman was guarding some baby ducklings
crossing the field,
</UL>
etc.

Particularly in light of the dog days of August, the Homers had an excellent 
turnout:  Jeff (1B/2B), Don (LF), Tim (SS), Monica (2B), Doug (OF/1B), Dave 
(OF/3B), Robb (3B/P), Amy (RF), Ron (P), Sue (C), and Barbara (OF).  Holly 
and Allen made lots of friends with some Asterisks kids, while Richard (P/LF) 
and Phil (LF/SS) joined the Asterisks themselves, a team chronically at 7 
players.  Afterwards, Robb, Jeff, Doug, Monica, Holly, Alan, Richard, Ron, 
Don, and Sue headed over to Georgees to heal wounds.<p>

The three stars of the game were:
<UL>
<LI><b>Tim</b>, who hit two three-run home runs

<LI><b>Phil</b>, who hit his first home run since either T-ball or
Nintendo; furthermore, this was against the stiff defense of the Homers

<LI><b>Dave</b>, who also hit his first home run and started a line
drive double play from third to first
</UL>
Don also hit a home run to right to lengthen his lead to 11 to 9 over Ron, 
Richard, and Tim in the quest for the title of Mr. Homer.<p>

Our next game is Tuesday, August 15, on field H2 of the Rose Bowl against
the Gravity Fielders.  That game and the one the week after are teams the 
Homers should beat, and then comes the rematch with Voodoo.<p>
