5 May 1997: Cassini Grounders 15 (ff), HOMERS 13

From: Scott C Morgan

The high flying HOMERs received their first gift of the year when the Cassini Grounders were forced to forfeit due to a complete lack of female Grounders. In what was billed as a night when the HOMERs might be short of players, a total of 15 HOMERs made an appearance at the game. In arrival order: Scott (OF), Richard (OF,1B), Sue (2B), Ron (P,C,OF,SS), Robb (OF,1B,3B,P), Karen, Amy (OF,SS), Sheila (C), David (SS,2B,OF), Tony (1B,SS,3B), Rich (3B,1B), Dave Scaff (P), Kevin (OF,1B), Holly (OF,2B), and Earl (OF,P,SS).

In the game, homers were belted by Richard, Ron, and Earl, who notches his first HOMER homer. Hitting honors got to Amy and Sheila for numerous hard shots during the game. The box score was:

     HOMERS 5 0 4 0 1 1 2 13
     Cassini Grounders 3 1 2 4 0 5 x 15
Defensive bravery honors go to Sue who valiantly threw herself in front of a screaming Grounder line-drive which she stopped with her thigh. Ice and beer (not mixed) were quickly prescribed by the HOMER on-field physician. The beer was consumed at Crown City Brewery, where Sue was joined by Ron, Robb, and Scott.

Next game is Thursday, May 15, against the LA Radars on the field near the water fountain. Please let Richard know if you will not be attending.
