Dinner: Ron, Robb, Mary, Jeff, Joe, and Richard at Burger Continental, where half the table was treated to all the best aspects of belly dancing without the shrill music.
Evora had the best hit of the day, a two-run homer down the left-field line in the first to put the Homers ahead. Richard lengthened that lead with his own home run later that inning, but Planet X chipped away and tied the score in the top of the fifth. However, the Homers responded with 10 in the bottom half to put the game away, highlighted by Ron's home run to deep right.
Offensive heroes abounded, though, as the Homers scored 25 times against a good team. Most notable was Annette, who seemingly found a solid stroke to center field. She also campaigned strongly for defensive player of the game by making an excellent catch in the outfield in the sixth but then disqualified herself with a Bad News Bears play in the seventh. Instead, defensive honors go to Tony at 1B, who backpedalled then turned very quickly to catch a foul pop-up behind first, making a very difficult play look easy.
Next week's game is Tuesday, May 5, against the Crawdads on field H3 (SW corner of field).
