The HOMERS team gathered this past Saturday in Santa Barbara, but something was different. No one was interested in throwing the ball around. No one was interested in taking batting practice. There wasn't an opposing team to taunt. And the HOMERS were much better dressed than they usually are! That's right it was the big wedding day for HOMERS member Annette and future HOMERS member Daniel.
In honor of this joyous occasion here is a special HOMERS Wedding Recap:
The bride wore white. The groom didn't. Lisa was in the wedding party. Richard got his wish and was seated next to an unattached single woman. It didn't do him any good. Sheila and Richard enjoyed the open bar. Everyone else enjoyed watching Sheila and Richard enjoy the open bar. We all had a good time, and we all wish Annette and Daniel the very best in their life together.
Oh yeah, and in this weeks HOMERS game, the HOMERS continued their winning ways. This week the HOMERS took advantage of the Bruisers, who are managed by part time HOMERS member Karen.
Bruisers 2 0 0 0 4 0 2 8 HOMERS 5 7 0 2 3 5 x 22Batting order and defensive line-up for the HOMERS was:

There were a total of 5 homer runs added to this year's M. Homer (soul) competetion. Richard had one in the second inning, Tim added one in the fifth, Tony had one in the sixth, and Ron had one in each of the fifth and sixth innings. Other HOMERS offensive highlights included a triple by Tony and a fine double by Mary right down the left field line. (Just think what she could have done if she could run at full speed!)
Defensively, the night belonged to the female out-fielders. Sheila and Mary made more catches in the outfield than all of the other out-fielders combined! In the past, the HOMERS have made C-league history by fielding the first all female in-field, now we may need to start thinking about the first all female out-field. Other HOMERS highlights included several good plays in the in-field to cut down Bruiser runners trying to reach third base.
The after game festivities included a joint HOMERS-Bruisers dinner at Round Table. Participants included: (HOMERS) Scott, Tim, Jeff, Robb, Ron, Sue, (Bruisers) Karen, John, and the French guy (sorry, I can't spell French names, they always have too many extra silent letters in then.)
Next week's HOMERS game is scheduled for Tuesday against Rick's Rejects on field H3 at 5:30. The HOMERS will be missing several players next week, so if you aren't a regular, this would be a good week to try an make the HOMERS game!
